General damage types

Damage calls are used for special or unusual attacks. A blow may have no more than two calls with it (characters or monsters capable of more effects must choose which to use with each blow). The damage types and what effects inflict them are detailed below. All blows will inflict one level of damage unless otherwise noted. See the Armour section for the amounts of damage a person can take.

Parries
Weapons can be used to parry blows from other weapons only. If a weapon is used to deliver a special attack, such as a sword enchanted to inflict fatal damage, you can use any weapon or shield in an attempt to parry it. If a blow from a weapon delivering a special attack is parried, the special attack will not affect you.
