The Apprentice System
Each ranked Guild member will be able to take two apprentices each year.
The year will run Heartland Games through to Heartland games.
Rules for Masters
A master may take two apprentices each year but the following rules apply.
- Masters may teach any skill up to their own rank. (Up to a maximum of rank 5)
- When the apprenticeship is agreed the master and apprentice must go to the guilds desk and have their cards punched and hand over OSPs, coins and fill in paperwork etc.
- Once purchased the OSP skill will appear on the apprentice’s character card at the beginning of the new event season as per normal.
- Each master may except one non-guild ranked character each year.
- Apprentices may only be taken at the four main LT events.
- The apprenticeship agreement will last from the event it is started to the start of the following years Heartland Games.
- The In Character cash must be paid in full to the guild at the time of the skill purchase along with the OSPs.
- If a master is the faction liaison then both his apprentices must be from his own faction. This is the only exception to rule 4.
Rules for Apprentices
- You may only have one master per year (Character card will be punched )
- Once agreed as an apprentice you may buy one skill from the master’s guild skill list not from a rank higher than your master. (maximum rank 5) This skill will cost the guild listed OSP cost and a IC payment must be made to the guild. (See below)
- The apprentice may be fired or sacked but they will still gain the skill at the start of the next year’s season regardless. This also applies if the master dies or is unavailable for any other reason.
Skill Training Costs
Factional apprentices will have to pay the following costs.
This money must be paid to the guild when you buy the skill of your choice.
Guild ranked apprentices buy skills at a slightly different cost.
They may buy any skills from their rank or lower from their guild for free.
If they wish to learn skills from a higher rank they must pay the factional cost but one step lower on the table.
- E.G. Bob a rank 2 scout wants to learn through from behind a rank 4 skill. This means he looks at the table for costing.
A rank 4 skill would normally cost him 3 gold but because he is guild ranked he may pay the cost one step lower.
So he pays 2 gold rather than 3.
| Skill rank | Factional Skill cost
1 2 silver
2 1 gold
3 2 gold
4 3 gold
5 | 4 gold

Restricted skills
Restricted skill will only be issued in certain numbers.
Apprentices may not purchase restricted skills unless they are themselves the correct rank or they pay the generic OSP cost.
-
I.E Jeff wants to buy mighty blow.
He is rank 3 in the armourers guild.
This means that he must either wait until he gets to rank 5 or simply pay the 120 OSP points, which is the generic factional cost.
