A restricted skill may be learnt by no more than 5 people per year from within the teaching Guild. If the Guild restricted skill is available to the Factions then another 5 to 10 people (from the factions) per year can be trained. This depends on the particular restricted skill.
The need to train and practice a restricted skill or the access to certain components, anyone wishing to use this skill each year, must maintain contact with the teaching Guild. The training and practice takes place over the winter and prepares the person's use of the skill for the following year.
Should a person leave the Guild for any reason, then it is up to the Guild to decide if such training is maintained or withheld from the person. A person denied the training needed to maintain a restricted skill would lose that skill at the beginning of the training time of that year. Generally this will be at the end of the Gathering. If the Guild withholds the training after this then the skill will be lost immediately.
If such a person regains the favour of the teaching Guild, then they can resume their winter training that year and start using the skill from the following late spring (Heartland Games).
Generally the restricted skills will be taught on a "first come, first taught" basis. Sometimes the Guilds may reserve a training position to a person who has performed truly outstanding deeds on behalf of the Guild.
If a restricted skill is made available to the Guilds and Factions then only a maximum of 5 Guild and 5 Faction people will be taught the skill each year.
If a restricted skill is made available to the Guilds, Factions and the generic people then a maximum of 5 Guild and 10 non-Guild people will be taught the skill each year.
No player can purchase more than one restricted skill in any one year.
Please remember anyone buying a restricted OSP skill must be able to produce their character card, the rank they hold and the relevant OSP tokens for the purchase of that skill, as with the purchasing of all OSP skill from the Guild or Faction available lists.
