Faction Rank

Faction command ranks are issued to the leaders of each faction and are given out by them to characters who have worked particularly well or have performed outstanding feats in the service of their faction. Command rank cards will have the name of the faction or guild they have been issued to and the date until which they are valid printed on them. Faction command rank 9 and 10 cards are only issued to Lorien Trust NPC's. Each faction is given the following number of command rank cards:

In addition to this basic allocation, each faction receives a number of extra command ranks. The exact number of extra cards issued is dependant upon the size of the faction, as defined by the number of players who have pre-booked for Lorien Trust events as members of each faction (gate bookings will not count towards this figure). Faction command rank cards will be valid until the start of the next year's Gathering.

At each Gathering, all factions will hold an election. During this, ranks will be awarded to characters that have distinguished themselves, ranked characters may be demoted and any rank slots left open by character deaths will be filled. When you are given a faction command rank, your faction command will record the title you have been awarded. The Lorien Trust will collect lists of the ranks that have been allocated from all factions at the end of each Gathering. During September, all characters that have been given rank will receive a new character card with their title and rank printed on it.

Once a rank has been assigned, it cannot be reallocated until the next Gathering, even if the character holding the rank dies at an event during the year. Factions will be able to appoint temporary replacements for ranked characters that have died using promotional rank cards. Temporary promotions may then either be confirmed or removed at the elections during the next Gathering. If a temporary promotion is confirmed, the character receiving the rank will be sent an updated character card during the September after the promotion has been confirmed.
